Post from beyond the grave

I think I have developed bronchitis. Yes, Ben Parris, it is likely a result of traveling back and forth this past weekend, since I *know* that I got a cold on Friday morning on the plane to San Diego, yet worked the whole weekend. I feel dead and will now crawl back into my bed. No sympathies need to be expressed.

Have you ordered your Harry Potter yet?

I'm sorry you are sick! Ouch...

As far as Harry Potter - what you mean choose to leave something so important in the hands of our postal service? Heavens no. I'm going to be standing at the bookstore harassing the 15 year old cashier until I can get my hands on the copy the minute it strikes midnight.

Publishing, books, and soup . . . what more can you ask for?

Less soup, more lit. When 4/5 of blog posts are about your kitten or your cold, it's time to reconsider having a "professional" blog and start thinking about writing mass-emails to friends and family who want the updates.

((((hugs)))) on the bronchitis. That's no fun! I was knocked on my butt with a nasty respiratory thing last week, and I have to admit, I kind of liked having the chance to lie in bed sipping tea, reading, and napping.

Take care of yourself.

You just made my day by pointing me to that release! Thank you!

rashenbo - I always agrue with myself whether to go to the store and be a part of the mania or order and have it just be there. Maybe I'll do both this time; I have a husband that won't get his book but does want to know how much it'll be until I'm done. :)

Jack, start your own blog and be the Ruler of Content there.

The rest of us happen to enjoy the kitten updates, and want to make sure Jenny is healthy.

(It's nice to be reminded that agents are mostly human. *cough*)

Actually, Jack, the reason that I update about my health is that the majority of my clients read my blog, and it's a fast and easy way to disseminate information. It lets them know that I may not be getting back to them as fast as possible, becasue I'm attempting to not cough my lungs up.

And yes, I am human.

I also know that I've been slacking a bit on the agenting content--that's why I wrote up the long query letter post. That's also why I'm still counting my damn query letter rejects, to attempt to give some people accurate statistics. I have a tote bag full at this point.

What it boils down to, however, is that this is my blog, and I choose what content goes on it. Take a look at Anna Genoese's blog; most of it is about knitting and books and her kitten/cats and painting her apartment and her evil roommates. She's a wonderful editor at Tor, and yet I read her blog because her voice and writing and life amuse me.

You want publishing content 24/7? Go buy THE INSIDER'S GUIDE TO GETTING AN AGENT by Lori Perkins (my boss); it'll give you a nice crash course on everything you want to know.

In a word, exactly!
