HanaKimi Cheerleaders

I have absolutely no idea how long this will stay on YouTube for, but I think it's terribly funny. =)

The quality isn't the best, since YouTube encoding is notoriously crappy, but it's a scene from the Japanese dorama I've been watching, HanaKimi. Yes, they are all guys, except for one actress mixed in. (Yes, this is what I watch on the weekends... make of it what you will. =)

Hello Jenny,
My you have been busy! I sent you a query in May, and read your post which said it would most likely not be read until the end of the summer. Should I resend it anyway?
Thank you!

I didn't you know watched dorama. ;) Very interesting.

BTW -- Have you seen WATERBOYS? It's about boys' sinkuro chiimu (male synchronized swimming team).

I haven't seen Waterboys, although I suppose I'll have to check it out at some point.

And the doramas are an addiction that I successfully avoided for many years and then I watched the live action Hana Yori Dango... and it was all downhill from there. =)

Cynthia, I'm working on going through queries and partials this week, to reclaim my office from the mail. If you sent it via e-mail, Spencer will deal with it.

Have you read the manga version of Hana Kimi? I love the facial expressions and "special effects" the author/illustrator uses. My local bookstore only ever orders one copy, though, and it always comes in weeks late, so I live in fear for the day when someone gets it before I do and I have to wait. Again. :)

Tori, I haven't read the manga version of HanaKimi, although from what I've read online, the dorama actually deviates from it significantly. At the moment, the storyline of the dorama is making more sense to me than the summaries of the manga storyline. Events in the dorama seem to happen in a more logical order... I don't think it's going to deviate too much from the manga in the end though because it's getting strongly suspicious that Mizuki will end up with Sano. But alas, I do like poor Nakatsu too and feel bad for him. =)

The cheerleaders were probably the funniest thing I've seen in a long time! I'm really sad the series is ending (today)!

Though I do have to recommend the manga, primarily because Sano is just that much cuter. ;) It takes him a really long time to warm up to Mizuki in the drama, whereas in the manga he starts caring for her almost immediately. (So that relationship makes a bit more sense since there is enormous build up…) But yes, the drama does go a bit astray from the manga storyline—and it cut out some of my parts! I know you’re incredibly busy catching up, but I do recommend it if you ever get some downtime!

... nothing about the tragic passing of Robert Jordan, Jenny?

RIP RJ.

I've only seen bits of the drama, but from what I've seen so far, I much prefer the manga. The characterization of the three main characters is more enjoyable and less cliched ... and Nakatsu seems like much more of a sweetheart in the manga. :) I haven't watched this far in the drama, but I LOVE the evolution of things between Nakatsu and Mizuki in the manga ... how torn he is ... how much she worries ...

Gah. I'm such a mushball.

Since the video is no longer available, can someone tell us latecomers what it showed?

Aah, that's a pity that it was finally taken down. I'd post it, but I assume that the copyright holders in Japan wanted it off of Youtube for good reason. Although, strangely, they have no problem with the entire interview special for the show being on that site, which I watched the other day...

Anyway, it was a bunch of very cute Japanese guys, doing a cheerleading routine to Avril Lavigne's song, "Girlfriend". Very amusing. =)
