Vacation postponed, sort of

Well, I was going to go on vacation, but then we got some bad news that Chris' grandfather had passed away last night, so now I'm not going anywhere this week.

I will, however, still be "on vacation".

And my real vacation will now take place in January.

Life happens.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Not easy to take with the holidays so close.
Sending blessings your way.

Sorry to hear you've had a death in the family. That's hardest this time of year.

I didn't see your name on the list of agents attending SDSU Writer's Conference in San Diego. That could be considered vacation, right? =) So you're really not coming?

Matthew, that's right, I'm not coming to SDSU in January. I'm trying to hit places I haven't been, and so I don't want to repeat at any one conference, two years running. I'm also, at this moment, pretty much declining any conference invites that are coming in for the next six months or so (through June 2008), due to health reasons.

I certainly understand. You know, it's strange...this year there will be only two editors and one agent interested in fantasy fiction. I had chosen this conference over the Maui Writer's Conference, because Maui told me that fantasy wasn't playing a big role there, either. What is this world coming to? Keep us posted on how you're doing health-wise.
