And that's it, folks

The last query to get a personalized rejection came in at 11:13pm EST tonight. Once Jodi finishes going through them, I'm going to cross-link to her posts, and analyze her stats on the queries. And then all discussion can ensue. =)

Any other queries that get sent (and keep sending them, of course), will go to my regular intern from now on. I hope people thought this experiment was generally a success.

I will consider this experiment a success ONLY if it's repeated when my steaming pile of a manuscript is (finally / ever / never) finished.

At that point, IF you are conducting "query-letter-feedback experiment" v2.0, then I will send a letter formally requesting agented representation for said steaming pile.

Until then, I consider everything Jodi did a complete waste of time.

The feedback that I received was done in a very professional and helpful manner.

For that ,I thank you BOTH.

As for my very own steaming pile, it is definitely my query...it is permeating my writing space as we speak!

Thanks again!
:) Terri

As I've said before, I think Jodi did a bang-up job with this whole thing.

Thanks to both of you for doing this.

I found this experiment to be very helpful. Jodi's comments were professional and I was happy to learn that my query was good. My story just didn't excite her enough. As this business is so subjective, I will keep on submitting until I find that one agent who loves my story. Thank you Jodi and Jenny.

It was the quickest response I have received for a query, and very helpful. Thanks!

Oh, absolutely it was a success, at least on the spectator side. I read a lot of books on writing and/or agenting. Many of them give you the 10,000 foot view of the day-to-day workings of the slush pile, but this was the first one that came with statistics and running commentary. Very interesting.

Jodi offered an AMAZING critique on a recent query, for which I am extremely grateful. Thank you both for conducting this "experiment."

She did a fantastic job and explained things so well I saved a few posts for future reference.
