Mismanagement

For those just joining us in progress.... it's now official that the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office is formally investigating my condo association's former manager and former association board. For malfeasance and fraud. Over the last fifteen years.

You think it can't happen to you, people. But it can.

If you live in a townhouse or a condo or a co-op, go to your board meetings. Make sure you vote in elections. Practice due diligence. It costs a lot of money otherwise.

In completely unrelated news, can someone please tell me why Zoe needs to drink from not one, but both upstairs bathroom sinks within a period of five minutes? =)

Okay I hope I am not the nearer of bad news but if Zoe is really doing that it is time for a trip to the vet for a blood test. It can be diabetes, it can be the very beginning of kidney failure. But in any case you need to check when water intake is increased. I hope it is not bad news--I have a diabetic and two in early kidney failure.

I meant "bearer" not "nearer"--sorry

I think she just likes to drink from the sink, personally, but I'm not sure.

She's not drinking an abnormal amount of water because she never drinks from her water dish. Although I will keep an eye on her.

I have had cats that loved to drink from faucets. There are fancy dispensers out there that circulate and aerate pet drinking water so that it's always "fresh". Apparently other pets don't like stagnant bowls, either. Of course keep an eye on Zoe, but you might look into one of those super water bowls if you think it's worth it.

Maybe your kitty just likes sinks.

Thanks to a recent post on Smart Bitches Trashy Books I discovered the website catsinsinks.com where it is just what you think it would be from the url. It is cats. In sinks.

I click through a couple pictures and cannot help but think how quickly they would move if only the tap were to be turned on.

P.S. I hope you watched Senator Biden's speech tonight and were reassured. I was stunned at what his son Beau had said in the introduction. The thought that Senator Biden considered not being sworn into office because of his family's personal tragedy moved me to tears.

2 of my cats love to drink from the sink faucet. Isabelle will meow every time someone goes into the bathroom to turn the water on for her. She doesn't drink a lot of water each time, but woe is the person who's in the bathroom and doesn't turn on the water. She just wails until you do it so it's easier to turn it on whenever someone goes in there.

My cats rule, I just pay the mortgage.

Zoe is asserting her dominance in the relationship. Not that she needs to, because she knows she's your feline overlord, but she is testing your limits. It is the same instinct that leads my cat to constantly mew at me about five feet from my office chair. She is testing to see how far I will lean out of my chair to pet her, and whether I will sacrifice my body upon the floor in order to reach her.

I lived in a townhouse community and there was fraud dealing with new siding on all the homes. Our fees jumped to over four hundred a month and there was fraud with the management company. The association board, in our case, was very legit though. When I moved in 2000, I went to a private home because I was tired of the constant arguing and the rising monthly fees.

And/or cats are notorious for their short memories. I read somewhere once that a mother cat will always go back to check for another kitten when she moves her babies. Maybe Zoe forgot she got a drink and decided she was thirsty?!

BTW My cats won't drink stale water either!

Color me unsurprised. Not that I know anything about your condo, but in my experience, dishonest dealings by the boards and managers is more common than not.

Oh I definitely agree, Joe. And luckily, our new, legally elected condo board has hired a very, very good attorney who spent a full two hours talking to us about it. I like him very much.

Because it might taste different!

I have one cat that won't drink from anything other than running water and another that is afraid of the water fountain I bought for the Feline Contingent. Go figure.
