Yes, perhaps some other sentient species are in the process of blowing each other up with their incredibly advanced weapons, so much so that they've created a special light so for us. Or maybe they're just sending a sort of morris-code warning to us. . . Someone should really make a story out of this. :)

Heh, cool.

Obviously the light belongs to aliens and they're trying to signal us because they need our help. But I guess they're all blind now (assuming they have eyes like ours), after that bright light.

Nah. It's just some alien scientists taking their 'Big Bang' experiment to the next step. Obviously it *doesn't* cause a black hole. Just a very bright light that probably destroyed whatever planet or ship or whatever it took place on.

Or maybe someone said to a couple of aliens, 'take it outside, you two', and they took it outside the galaxy...

Or, to be boring, maybe a couple comets or something ran into each other. Or a couple generation ships that have been travelling empty space have collided, despite there being nothing else within lightyears to collide with...

Someday, I really should write some science fiction... :P
