Tadaima!

As the title says, I'm home. Back from the land of the old, and back into NJ. Yes, yes, I know Florida has plenty of young people, but my grandparents are senior citizens and almost my entire time down there was spent with them. Chris and I snuck out to a Steak 'N Shake one night; it was our guilty pleasure. =)

I have tentative plans to attend the SFWA Publisher's Reception on Monday night, if my sinus infection gets better, and the impending snow holds off.

I have something like 400+ e-mails to answer.

And I have a very, very happy cat. She gave me cat kisses. I feel loved. =)

So tell me, what have you all been up to while I've been gone?

I've received Jodi's critique, mumbled darkly about if I'd only been allowed to send three extra pages, all she was asking for would have happened, and am now looking what I can do to move the story forward.

In the meantime, I'm working at finishing the next book so you two will never run out of reading material.

And I was woken by hail on my window this morning. There seems to be a curious synchronisation of weather on my livejournal friendslist this morning - it's not often the UK and NY have the same weather.

I received Jodi's comments and realized, OMG she's right! If my villian was any cheesier I could have named him Nacho. (She said it in a much nicer way.) So, I brainstormed, and wrote his entire backstory for my own use.

Then, I rewrote the prologue and first chapter. Now I'm working on the synopsis, which was etremely suckful.

Thanks again for having the contest.

I'm also revising thanks to Jodi.

I'm also trying to decide if I should start querying on the other novel that I've finally finished and am now revising.

Steak N Shake. Man I wish they had those where I live.

Hope you're feeling better by tomorrow evening. Sadly, rain is expected. Not quite the optimal weather for sinus infections but I do hope you do feel up to making it to the reception. On the selfish side, I was really looking forward to meeting you!

Steak n Shakes in our area are invariably the only restaurants open really late at night after a late movie or whatever. But they shut down equipment or run out of things. My husband has shown up at one on several occasions when there was neither "steak" nor "shake."

Writing. Polishing. Querying. All on different projects. Not to mention help the dd move into her upstairs apartment, help hubs upholster a piece of furniture here and there. I took the kids to see Twilight. Made sure they did their math and history.

I think I need a vacation. ;)

Snow? I'd better check the weather. If they are prediting snow for you, then I'm probably going to get it too.
