Jenny Rae Rappaport
I am happy to announce that I have been accepted into the Odyssey Writing Workshop for 2009.

I will be in Manchester, New Hampshire from June 7, 2009-July 18, 2009.

My clients have already been alerted of this fact via e-mail, and if you are a client and reading this now, please go check your e-mail. =)

The Rappaport Agency will be closed for submissions for the entire month of June and most likely a good portion of the month of July. (ETA: Jodi, who is the one who will be holding down the agency fort for the six weeks I'm gone, thinks we shouldn't close to submissions at all. I'll post more information about that, if we do decide to not close for June. =)

I'll be back to work on July 20, 2009.

And now that the official stuff is gotten over with... woo-hoo!!!! Can I tell you all how utterly pleased and happy and surprised I am by this? Yay!!!! =)

Wait -- did you announce the winners of the contest? If so, I can't figure out where.

  3. Taymalin Says:

Congratulations Jenny! That's great. Good work.

  4. Ryan Crafton Says:

Congratulations on your acceptance! This workshop looks like it would be a great experience.

I have a question: Would you ever consider representing your own fiction?

Or would that fall into the same category as 'A lawyer who represents herself has a fool for a client'?

    Thanks.

Congratulations! As a graduate, I know you'll love it!

  6. Ryan Crafton, no, I'd get another agent to represent my own fiction. Even agents need agents. =)

a writer, no, I haven't announced the winners yet. I have my favorites narrowed down, so look for results by tomorrow.

  7. Margaret Says:

Ooh, congratulations. I can't wait to hear what you thought of it, having considered Odyssey myself.

Sweet. I'm jealous. 500 a week to go write and workshop? I'd consider that a pretty sweet deal. I'd love six weeks by myself to write. That would be worth way more than 3k.

  9. Nice, congratulations!

  10. How exciting for you! I'm actually attending Clarion West this summer, so I'll be writing like crazy on the opposite end of the country. ^_^ Congratulations!

    Woot! Have a great time!

  15. Thank you, everyone! =)

astres, I will certainly try to post about what I'm learning. I'll definitely still be posting because oh my, can you imagine me going six weeks without babbling at you all?

    Congratulations, Jenny,

I'll see you on your last Friday night of Odyssey as I come in for the alumni week that starts the next day. This'll be my first time back.

You'll have an awesome time. And Jeanne is totally amazing.

    Jeff

Congrats Jenny! Did you find out by snail mail or email? Just curious, I too applied and I'm waiting to hear back from Jeanne.

Well, I would have invited you to swing through Amherst on your way up ... but I'm going to be in Jersey June 5-6! We might be having a small meet-up at Jersey Freeze on the 5th if you aren't gone or crazy packing. I'm not sure if I'll be home when you are done in July or out doing field work in CO.

Hi Jenny, all I've got to say is...

I'll see you at Odyssey 2009!!!

Ever since Jeanne sent me the acceptance email, I've been bubbling over with curiosity to find out who my fellow classmates are. This is so great!

I'm apparently the first ever student from Singapore, so right now I'm putting Jeanne through much inconvenience with all the arrangements (two words: international mail) :P Fingers crossed I'll get all the logistics done on time.

And you'll be the first agent who's guest-starred at Odyssey to return as a student! How cool is that?

Maybe we should set up a discussion somewhere for the Odyssey 09 class, what do you think? I'm on twitter and facebook...

    Soratian/Lisa

  22. Soratian, very cool! Singapore is really far away. =) We should set up some sort of discussion group for Odyssey 09, but you're the only other person I know who's going.

  23. Soratian Says:

We could check with Jeanne-- I think she might be waiting for everyone to officially confirm their attendance first. After that, maybe we can start one on Odyssey's facebook page.

  24. Congrats! That's so amazing.

But now I wish I'd applied. :/ I just have too much stuff going on this summer with trying to graduate and what not. Boo hoo.

And I second the request to blog about it! Although I'm sure you'll be super busy. So maybe just a recap afterward. Then I'll know whether it's worth applying next year. And have a blast!
